If Arnold Police Department Business Resource Officers were not on the job, acts of shoplifting, robbery, and other crimes at local businesses, restaurants, and stores would occur much more often.

The Business Liaison Unit directly addresses the public safety needs of the City’s businesses. The officers build relationships with the local businesses and use several different strategies to address the many issues that concern the businesses. Those concerns include vehicle thefts and burglaries, shoplifting, vandalism, traffic and parking issues, panhandling and alcohol-related problems. They stop in dozens of retail and business locations to visit store managers, employees, loss prevention officials, customers – and to show the presence of law enforcement to any potential lawbreakers. The unit will also conduct security audits for businesses at no cost to the business.

If Arnold Police Department Business Resource Officers Sanjin Alunovic, Sean Kennedy, Micheal Prusinowski and Taylor Wilson were not on the job, acts of shoplifting, robbery, and other crimes at local businesses, restaurants, and stores would occur much more often.

These officers are constantly on the move almost every day of the year. They stop in dozens of retail and business locations to visit with store managers, employees, loss prevention officials, customers – and to show the presence of law enforcement to any potential lawbreakers.

The Unit puts a police officer directly in contact with businesses to help provide a safe and welcoming business environment, and to provide an obvious deterrent to crime. The officers help make a business more secure, which can result in less risk and higher profitability for the business.

When on the job, each is in uniform with handcuffs, service pistol, and police radio – always ready to apprehend a criminal.

Their police cruisers have Arnold Police Business Resource Officer markings. The officers visit shopping centers, 24-hour businesses, ‘big box’ stores like Wal-Mart and Target, grocery stores, small businesses, computer and phone stores, restaurants, and more.

The Unit conducts bi-monthly intelligence sharing sessions at Arnold City Hall that bring together managers and loss prevention officers from various stores, as well as police detectives, to share surveillance photos and data to identify law breakers – including those that commit felonies. The Unit shares that information with other law enforcement agencies in the bi-state area.

These sessions have helped break up theft rings in Missouri and Illinois. In addition, the officers have made many arrests and helped resolve many criminal cases, including for narcotics possession.

The Arnold Police Department Business Resource Officer program is offered to licensed businesses within the city limits as a no-cost public service. If your business is interested, call 636-296-3204.
