The City of Arnold has a number of departments that provide various services to the community including:

  • Police Protection
  • Animal Control
  • Mosquito Control
  • Existing structures inspections
  • Building and development plan review and inspections
  • Street maintenance for city owned streets
  • Snow removal for city owned streets
  • Refuse collection for designated residential units
  • Health related inspections

TRASH

In 2001 the City Council voted to provide free residential trash service. The City Council has extended free trash service each year since 2001. Currently free trash service has been extended through August of 2008.

Trash collection is provided by Veolia Waste. Yard Waste is available through Veolia Waste on a subscription basis with a six-month minimum service.

July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007 $7.43 / month
July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008 $7.65 / month
July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 $7.88 / month

Large household appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, stoves, etc. will be picked up for a fee. This collection must be scheduled in advance by calling Veolia Waste at (314) 567-1800.

HOLIDAYS CHANGE THE TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE

 
The trash hauler will not collect trash on the following holidays:
 
Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008
Friday, July 4, 2008
Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2008
Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 27
Christmas, Thursday, December 25
 
The scheduled collection will be a day late during the week with these holidays.

UTILITY TAX REBATE

The City of Arnold rebates paid utility taxes for senior citizens and for people with disabilities during the months of April and October. To be eligible for the rebate, residents must be 62 or older, or certified as totally disabled. Total household income must not exceed $30,000 annually. To receive the refund the following documents must be presented:

  • Proof of age and photo id - driver's license, birth certificate, etc.
  • Proof of total income for the year - wages, pensions, unemployment, social security checks, public assistance of any kind, interest, dividends, etc.
  • Paid gas and electric bills for the six-month period.
  • Proof of ownership - deed, real estate tax receipt, etc. If renting, a receipt or lease agreement.
  • For disability refund - recent letter of disability and copy of recent check from Social Security.
