Melissa Leavy’s Elder Care Law Practice at Corridor 55 helps elderly and disabled persons in Jefferson County with their legal needs through advocacy, research, and planning.

The firm’s practice areas include long-term care and estate planning; disability planning; Veteran’s Administration and Medicaid eligibility; and probate matters.

Melissa also represents clients in matters involving the Missouri Department of Social Services, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and additional Social Security Administration programs.

VA accreditation authorizes Melissa to represent clients directly in their initial claims and appeals for veteran’s benefits. She also helps clients and their families with many care issues involving tax and estate planning, asset protection, and special needs trusts.

“The most important benefits of Corridor 55 for my law practice are its convenience and low cost,” Melissa says. “Without these I would not be able to have a presence here or practice in Jefferson County.

“I do have a law office location in St. Louis County. For me to have a Jefferson County location, I needed a smaller space for meeting with clients without the full cost and overhead of running an office here. Corridor 55 works perfectly for my needs and for my clients.”

Melissa earned her Juris Doctorate at Saint Louis University School of Law with concentrations in tax and estate planning. Previously, she earned a bachelor of arts in social work at the University of Illinois – Chicago.

While in law school, she worked for both the Internal Revenue Service and the Missouri Department of Revenue, assisting in complex litigation cases and resolution of tax controversy cases.

As a Corridor 55 tenant with “member” status, Melissa has 24/7 access to shared workspace, fast, secure internet and wi-fi services, unlimited kitchenette privileges, printing, mail services, plus discounted access to a modern conference room and classroom.

“I serve elderly and disabled people,” Melissa says. “The fact that I am on the first floor in a secure building with ample free parking is a convenience for my clients – and for me.”
