The City of Arnold is accepting applications for the position of Planner. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Community Development Director. Applicants should be critical thinkers with strong communication skills, interested in innovative solutions, and have an advanced understanding of GIS. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: evaluating or assisting in the evaluation of rezonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, and other proposals; developing planning studies and reports; collecting a variety of data, maintaining geographic information system layers and preparing maps; presenting reports to boards and commissions; providing information to the public regarding development regulations and assisting in the resolution of issues; overseeing the work of consultants and interns; attending evening meetings; and requires the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
The successful applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning, geography, economics, or a related field; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP Certification is preferred. Must have a valid driver license, strong customer service and problem solving skills, and working knowledge of cloud-based applications, such as Microsoft Office and ArcGIS Pro.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
Primary work is in an office, however, significant time spent in the field. Must be able to perform basic physical life operational functions of reaching, crouching, standing, walking, typing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift/carry weight of up to twenty pounds. Must possess the visual acuity to examine and work with maps, operate a computer, inspect properties regarding planning and zoning issues, and do extensive reading.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range begins at $41,683, depending on qualifications and experience.

Pension is with the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (MO LAGERS).
