Uniform Patrol Division

The Uniform Patrol Division is the Department’s most visible resource and the backbone of the Department. Officers patrol City streets, subdivisions, and shopping centers 24 hours a day as part of their regular duties, scanning the City for criminal activity, traffic violations, and problems that relate to public safety.

Patrol Division officers also are the first responders on calls for police assistance in emergency situations. Their complete and accurate initial investigations assist the Criminal Investigative Unit in the prosecution of criminal offenders.

All Patrol Division officers regularly receive training in weaponry, life-saving methods, updates in federal, state, and local laws, and other areas of expertise to provide the citizens of Arnold the best possible public safety services.

Traffic & Accident Reconstruction Unit

The Traffic Unit of the Arnold Police Department is a specialized group of two officers who are specially trained traffic control and certified as Accident Reconstructionists by the State of Missouri. This Unit is supervised by a Sargeant, and they are available 24 hours a day for serious accident investigations and reconstruction.

The Traffic Unit officers are state certified motorcycle officers and operate Harley Davidson police motorcycles. Officers are specially trained in Doppler and Laser radar for detection of hazardous speeding violations.

The Traffic Unit is actively involved in conducting DUI Sobriety Checkpoints throughout the year, and they administer several enforcement traffic grants that target aggressive moving violations. The Department has a mobile radar trailer that can be deployed anywhere in the City to alert drivers who may be exceeding the speed limit. Team members also assist with traffic planning for special events in the City such as Arnold Days and the Fourth of July.

K-9 Unit

The Arnold K-9 Unit has been in existence since 1995. All of the K-9 Officers are dual purpose and they are certified in Narcotics Detection, Patrol Services, Handler/Officer Protection, and Criminal Apprehension.

Through the forfeiture of property by criminals, the Police Department has been able to purchase equipment and police vehicles.
